How to use Compress PDF
- 1
Add your PDF above.
- 2
Pick a maximum size — 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or your own in KB/MB — or a compression level.
- 3
Compress, compare the original and new size in the preview, then download.
Formats, limits and privacy
- Input: PDF (one or many). Output: compressed PDF; several files download as a zip.
- Up to 200 MB per file. Sizes use 1 KB = 1,000 bytes and 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes. The file is processed in your browser and isn't uploaded to WordToPDFHub.
Good to know
- The size you pick is an upper limit, not an exact size. Text-only PDFs are often already small and shrink little.
- If the limit can't be reached while keeping text selectable, you get the smallest version made and a clear note.
- Turning pages into images shrinks scans further but makes text unselectable; it only happens if you choose it.
- A result is never bigger than your original — if compression doesn't help, the original is kept.
Questions
- How do I get my PDF under 200 KB?
- Choose the 200 KB preset and compress. If it's still above, remove pages you don't need or choose a larger limit; for scans you can explicitly allow turning pages into images.
- Will compressing make my CV blurry?
- Text and fonts aren't changed in the default modes; only embedded images are recompressed.
- What if my file is already small enough?
- The tool tells you it already meets the limit and doesn't reduce quality unnecessarily.
- Can I compress several PDFs at once?
- Yes. Add several files and they're compressed one after another, then downloaded as a zip.
